HISTORY OF BLUE RIDGE, TEXAS
The community in 1984 had an estimated 442 residents and five reported businesses; in 1990 its population was 521. In 2000 the population was 672 with forty-eight businesses. Blue Ridge is a small community of 862 people (2011 estimate) located at the intersection of State Highway 78 and Farm to Market Road 981 approximately 48 miles from Dallas, Texas. It is considered to be within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in the northeastern portion of Texas. Blue Ridge is one of 27 cities located in Collin County.

Blue Ridge is a small community of 862 people (2011 estimate) located at the intersection of State Highway 78 and Farm to Market Road 981 approximately 48 miles from Dallas, Texas. As a city of less than 1,000 inhabitants, Blue Ridge’s current extraterritorial jurisdiction spans a half mile from the city limits.
According to the US Census Bureau, Blue Ridge has a total area of 3.2 square miles. We are considered to be within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in the northeastern portion of Texas. Blue Ridge is one of 27 cities located in Collin County.
